The winds of change have swept through Slow Food Saddleback, bringing a new committee of enthusiastic food fairness warriors to lead our efforts in 2026.
The committee takes on the legacy of our long-standing convivium leader, Celia Wade, and her team of veteran Slow Foodies. Celia described it as “a generational change in our local chapter”.
The seven members were elected at the reconvened AGM on November 17. They include a co-founder of the Kiama Farmers’ Market, a former food journalist turned cookbook editor, and a local chef and restaurateur. Members are sure to know some of these Slow Food devotees and community figures (who decided on the roles at their first meeting):
- Leader – Cathy Law
- Treasurer – Carolyn Evans
- Secretary – Karen Lateo
- Membership Secretary – Ann Greaves
- Publicity – Tamara Hamer
- Committee Members – Felicity Leitch and Lauren Brown
Lauren, who owns Blue Swimmer Restaurant at Gerroa, hosted the meeting and served a generous post-AGM dinner.
Under the direction of former Bugle owner Cathy, the committee is already busy planning future activities for Slow Food Saddleback. It aims to strengthen our relationships with local producers, restaurateurs and growers, and educate the community on the importance of good, clean and fair food for all.
