Slow Food Saddleback Goes to the Market!

In collaboration with the Kiama Farmers’ Market, our new SFS committee will staff the Saddleback convivium’s first food information and education stall at their Christmas market on Wednesday, December 17, 3-6pm.

The stall will offer seasonal recipes (try first with our bite-sized samples), and helpful tips on making the most of the produce on offer.

It aims to raise the profile of SFS within the Kiama community. Market shoppers will learn about the Slow Food philosophy and be encouraged to join the good fight for food fairness.

Kiama Farmers’ Market has donated four $50 shopping vouchers as raffle prizes, plus there is a homemade Christmas pudding up for grabs. Made by SFS leader Cathy Law, of Little Blowhole Café fame, it is made to a closely guarded family recipe and weighs in at 1kg – that’s $100 retail value.

Tickets will be on sale at $2 each, or three for $5, with the winners drawn at the end of the market day. Proceeds will help fund Slow Food Saddleback’s local community work.
